The University’s Safety, Health and Environment Policy outlines UCLan’s commitment to environmental protection and enhancement. The Policy is implemented through UCLan’s ISO14001 certified Environmental Management System. This enables UCLan to fulfil the environmental sustainability goals of the Strategy 2015-2020 designed to achieve a ‘Transformational change of the Preston campus to provide an enhanced learning environment for the highest quality teaching, learning, research and knowledge exchange underpinned by a commitment to environmental sustainability’
Senior management understand that the success of the Policy is everyone’s responsibility. All staff are therefore required to complete the mandatory ‘Safety, Health and Environment Induction’ training course. In addition, all managers are required to undertake ‘Environmental Management for Managers’ which is delivered as part of IOSH Managing Safely to ensure that they understand their responsibilities and help create a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible campus.
To find out more about UCLan’s commitment to the environment and sustainable development please read the University’s Annual Report on Environmental Sustainability Performance, which gives a summary of sustainability activities undertaken and progress against targets.
